The Clayground is open Saturdays from 10am - 3pm by appointment.

Choose a piece of locally handmade pottery, paint your own unique design, and we’ll glaze and fire it for you. It’s a relaxed, creative way to play with clay, connect with community, and take home a piece that’s truly one of a kind.

Ready to Paint Your Own Pottery?
1. Choose Your Piece
Select from a rotating collection of handcrafted pottery such as mugs, bowls, plates, cups, ornaments, and more.
Each piece is made locally at our studio in Hilo and is ready for you to bring it to life with your own colors and designs.
2. Paint & Play
Settle in and paint your design using our curated selection of underglazes and tools. Our team is here to offer tips, techniques, and encouragement.
3. We Glaze & Fire It
Once you’re finished, we handle the rest. Your piece is glazed and kiln-fired in our studio, transforming it into a durable, food-safe ceramic.
4. Pick Up Your Finished Piece
Your pottery will be ready for pickup within two weeks to allow for drying and firing. Every piece is unique, functional, and made to be used and loved.

Paint your own pottery in a relaxed, beginner-friendly environment. No artistic experience needed! Just show up and have fun. Our friendly team is always nearby to offer guidance and tips, making the process stress-free and enjoyable for everyone, from first-timers to seasoned artists. You might just surprise yourself.
